Five Spice Powder

Ingredients


  • 5 teaspoons ground anise (aniseed)
  • 5 teaspoons star anise
  • 12.5cm (5in) cinnamon stick, or use the equivalent in cassia bark
  • 6 teaspoons cloves
  • 7 teaspoons fennel seeds

Method


  1. Using a blender, grind all ingredients together until finely ground. Store in an airtight jar for up to 3 months. This is a favourite for Chinese dishes. It is strong flavoured, so should only be used in very small quantities.
